About Debbie's PhD Research

Debbie is currently conducting her PhD research in Psychological Studies at the University of Northampton.

This research focusses on: The impact of therapeutic Spirit Release Therapy on non-clinical population.

Through encountering the area of Spirit Release Therapy work more frequently during her client sessions, Debbie went in search of scientific peer reviewed research into this therapeutic specialism in which she is trained. She discovered that research was limited and therefore needed to rectify this, embarking on her PhD studies which commenced in 2024 in the hope of helping clients and therapists.

Through her research Debbie aims to:

  • To explore the underlying variables of client attribution of anomalous experiences to therapeutic issues in a non-clinical setting.

  • To investigate the themes identified by participants who, under hypnosis, perceive external/anomalous experience to be a contributing factor to their presenting issues and symptoms.

  • To examine the adaptive and maladaptive impact that the language used in spirit release therapy has on therapeutic outcomes.
